Diets and Menu

Meals on Wheels has a 5-week rotating menu prepared by a nutritionist that meets strictly regulated PA dietary guidelines for older adults. Each meal contains 1/3 RDA, providing clients with the proper amount of protein, vitamins, minerals, calories, etc., as well as a wide variety of foods from the basic food groups. All meals are low sodium, low fat, and diabetic friendly (low concentrated sugar, range from 650-800 calories and follow the guidelines of ADA diet.) Fresh produce is used as much as possible.

Regular

Each meal is low salt <2 gm.), low fat, low cholesterol, ranging between 700-800 calories and meeting the needs of a liberal bland diet.

Renal

Two daily meals consist of 2-2.5 gm. sodium ,1-1.5 gm. Potassium 1-1.5 mg. Phosphorus,70-80 gm. Protein, 1200-1500 Calories

Soft

Foods not naturally soft are chopped into small squares for people with chewing or biting problems.

Pureed

Food is a thick liquid consistency for people with swallowing problems.
